Here at the Tutor Company we continue to provide the support learners need when it comes to their education. A question we often get from many people is how to get a maths GCSE quickly. The hope is that it would be relatively easy but due to the limited amount of exam periods for the standard GCSE, it makes it more difficult. There are a few alternatives though that learners may consider.

The GCSE maths exams are sat at a set time, usually around May/June and November and are always paper based. These are to be taken in a registered exam centre near you and there are 3 different papers to be completed. So you will have to be scheduled to go in at 3 dates at specific times for the exam. With the GCSE exams being taken at the same time for everyone around the country there is no flexibility, so students will have to adjust themselves. This then results in many people looking at any sort of alternative to earn the necessary qualifications needed to proceed. One of these options that they lean towards is the functional skills level 2 qualifications. It has many benefits and can be sat at anytime a learner is ready all year round. Not forgetting the fact that it is Ofqual regulated so there should be no issues in using it to apply for apprenticeships and getting into certain courses in University. It can also prove useful on job applications too being a GCSE grade C equivalent. The usual paper based GCSE exams usually take around 6 weeks for the results to come back whilst the functional skills exams come back in a number of days which makes it the fastest way to get GCSE maths. Another alternative that people consider are the GCSE equivalency tests but they are not as widely accepted by Universities and employers due to it usually being specific to teacher training.

It’s good that students have the choice and alternatives when looking at how to get maths GCSE qualifications. It may depend on your situation and how fast you need them to proceed in your career. Functional skills tend to be a great option for many due to how flexible it is. For more information on this please contact us as soon as you can.
